Matthew Lewis

Casting Matthew Lewis as Thirteen would tick a lot of the producers’ most-wanted boxes when it comes to the next star of Doctor Who. He’s young, charming and (very, very) attractive. More so than ever now, thanks to a rather rigorous workout regiment from filming the drama Me Before You. There’s no way he’d fail to attract young female viewers or to move Who merchandise. Plus, he comes with a built-in fanbase of his own, courtesy of his involvement in another rather massive geek franchise.

Lewis is best known for playing Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter movies. (And let’s face it; literally everyone loves Neville, who is brave and selfless and true no matter the cost to himself.) He has several other major film roles under his belt too. Including, but not limited to the aforementioned tearjerker based on JoJo Moyes’ novel that somehow came with its own physical trainer attached. Lewis brings a certain endearing sweetness to all his roles and is just really relentlessly charming. Plus, he seems a natural fit for the side of the Doctor that still finds the wonder everywhere he goes and in everywhere he meets.

Plus, we already know that Lewis is something of a Whovian. He apparently watched the show back when Tennant was the Doctor. (Though he hasn’t seen it since.) And early last year, he told the Radio Times that he’d love to have a guest role of some type. Well, how about we do you one better than a guest role and go for the Doctor himself? It could work!
