Test Your Knowledge of the Marauders: Misters Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs

If it weren’t for this mischievous quartet, Harry Potter may never have discovered the path towards defeating Voldemort. How well do you know the Marauders?

At first glance, the Marauder’s Map doesn’t look like anything special, just an old piece of parchment. But with one magical phrase, “I solemnly swear I am up to no good,” an entire Hogwarts network unfolds. Harry Potter himself was unable to unravel the mysteries behind Lord Voldemort’s return, thanks to one name skittering around the map.

So what about the guys who originally made it? Pottermore has a quiz you can play at your own leisure, which delves deep into the pasts of Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, and James Potter.

The quiz features some pretty cool drawings of the quartet during their school days. Many of the questions deal with the four men specifically, while other discuss the characters they’ve affected. Book knowledge is a must if you want to ace this quiz.

According to Pottermore, the creation of the map first came about when the group of friends was helping Remus deal with his werewolf-ism. All four would roam the castle grounds in their animagi form to keep Lupin company. Realizing how much of the area they mapped out, they were able to get a full scope of Hogwarts’ interior, thanks to James’s invisibility cloak.

The four put their heads together and created the map, thanks in part to the Homonculous Charm and other repelling spells (mostly to keep Severus Snape away). But how they lost it to Filch still remains a mystery.

As for my knowledge of the Marauders, I got a 46%, or a “Marauder-in-Waiting.” Unfortunately there isn’t an answer key, either, so I’ll always be wondering what questions I actually answered correctly.
