Glee alum Matthew Morrison joins the cast of Grey’s Anatomy, and though ABC didn’t say specifically, we’re guessing he’s going to be playing Jo’s husband.
Jo Wilson went from being a somewhat okay and edgy doctor to being a crux of the series. In addition to being the perfect hothead companion for Alex Karev, the way she relates to patients and advocates for them is a little different than the other doctors. She brings the real and doesn’t really care about hurting people’s feelings. And once we found out why in season 12, it made her character even more likable.
After Karev asked Jo to marry him, she declined because she was already married. And on the run from her abusive husband. Furthermore, Jo Wilson’s probably not even her real name.
Of course, this all led to the debacle where Karev beat the ever-loving crap out of Andrew DeLuca. But otherwise, we haven’t really tackled Jo’s marriage situation.
However, TVLine reports that Glee alum Matthew Morrison has joined the series. And this addition makes sense considering the previously reported news that Grey’s Anatomy was looking for a villainous doctor to appear in the final four episodes of the season. Considering the magnitude of the arc, it would make sense that Jo needs more than one episode to get everything sorted out.
According to Morrison, he’ll be playing a character named Paul Stadler.
Obviously, Grey’s Anatomy introduces doctors left and right. Plus, there will be more room to play once Jerrika Hinton’s Stephanie Edwards leaves the show this season. But based on the description of the casting call, the timing of Morrison’s announcement does coincide with the need for someone “charismatic” with a “dark side.”
I mean, does anyone remember how mad Will Shuester used to get when Sue messed up his plans to have the kids sing the Spongebob theme song in match Teletubbies costumes?
Also, since Monday marked the 12 year anniversary of the Grey’s Anatomy premiere, I’m just going to leave this here for everyone.
