13. She’s patient

As they say, patience is a virtue. Unfortunately for us in 2017, we’re a bit too used to instant gratification. We have to learn to slow things down and let things unfold, instead of getting our knickers in a knot and immediately defaulting to outrage mode. This is also something Dany has struggled with in her time trying to get back across the Narrow Sea.

In Season 3 when Dany first landed in Qarth, she thought she had her ticket to freedom. The Thirteen were willing to part with some of their ships, but it wasn’t enough for Dany. Despite her resistance and wanting to strike Westeros sooner, she heeded the advice from Ser Jorah and Ser Barristan, who told her to wait it out until it was the optimal time to go. And so she waited. In the meantime, she sacked three cities and ruled over Slaver’s Bay until it was time to move on to the next thing. The final shot of Season 6 shows a smiling Dany, silently riding back to the land of her birth, happy and content that her patience has paid off.

One thing Dany does well is keeping her goals at the forefront of her mind at all times. If what you’re after feels tangible and real, then it will come to you if you allow it and are willing to wait for it. As we followed Dany, we saw that not everything was peaches and cream for her.  Don’t forget how much trouble the Sons of the Harpy made for her. So even though there were battles and strife along the way, she was able to keep focused and patient enough to get everything she ever wanted.
