Movies you need in your collection.

This is your official queer movie collection. You’ll want to have these movies stored up for a laid-back Saturday night.

Imagine Me and You

“You’re a wanker number nine.” Once you watch this movie, you’ll understand why I’m not repeatedly yelling this in my head. I’ll admit that “Imagine Me and You” is a bit tropey but I don’t really care. It’s the story of a woman who’s only ever been into men and how her world changes when she meets the one person she was always destined for. Spoiler- that one person is also a woman, but I’m guessing you already knew that.

Carol

Another thing that I haven’t seen yet but is at the very top of my list. But like, Cate Blanchett so how could I not like it?? Here’s the synopsis:

"“An aspiring photographer develops an intimate relationship with an older woman in 1950s New York.”"

The Kids Are All Alright

GO WATCH THIS MOVIE. Seriously. This is one of the best movies you’ll ever see. It’s important to have shows and movies where the leading family in said show or movie is an LGBT family but the story is not focused around that. This movie could easily be made where it’s a hetero couple who can’t get pregnant so they adopt and then the kid wants to find their birth parents. So the fact that they made it this instead is nothing bit brilliant. A+.

Saving Face

This is a movie about one woman’s relationship with two women in her life- one being her mother and the other being her girlfriend. But her mother isn’t the most accepting person when it comes to new ideas so Wil (the lead) is afraid to finally come out to her. I know, I know. It sounds like every “coming out” story in entertainment right now but it’s so much more than that.

Almost Adults

Natasha Negovanlis and Elise Bauman’s on-screen chemistry is incredible. They first stole our hearts in Carmilla and are now portraying best friends in this “coming of age/coming out of the closet” comedy. Yes, I’ll admit that it’s hard to watch them kiss other people while they’re on screen but you get used to it after awhile. You can only buy this one on iTunes but it was money well spent.

Below Her Mouth

I honesty don’t even have enough words after watching this trailer. This movie hasn’t come out yet but how could I not include it!? Now you have something to look forward to at least! It’ll premiere April 27 of this year and that day can’t come soon enough.

There you have it. Enough quality gay content to last you at least a few weeks! And hopefully until “Below Her Mouth” premiers.
