Oh, where to start with Wonder Woman? Diana, Princess of the Amazonians and defending of puny regular humans, has had about a million different costumes. She’s gone through a biker phase, a sensible jacket and pants phase, and a very unfortunate mid-1990’s high-waisted thong phase. Perhaps that constant costume changes are a side effect of being one of the most recognizable female superheroes on the planet.

Even if you love the classic swimsuit style costume, you’ve got to admit that a Woman Woman so attired faces significant problems. Well, two significant problems, if you know what I mean. I don’t care what kind of double-sided tape you have Themyscira, those things are going to pop out of that bustier sooner rather than later. So, some sort of straps are required at the very least.

So, where does that leave us? There are a few more, shall we say, secure versions of Diana’s costume. My personal favorite is actually one of the more recent versions, seen in DC’s post-New 52 lineup.

There, Wonder Woman actually wears – could it be? – pants and a shirt. Again, there’s nothing inherently wrong with some skin here and there, but it is well and truly nice to see a major superhero that doesn’t look like she’s in lingerie. I’m not sure how practical those thigh-high boots are, not to mention those terrifying arm spikes, but it’s a welcome change overall.
