At lot of the time, superheroes need to work backwards when it comes to designing their costumes. They often stumble into their powers after some sort of accident, such as being bitten by a radioactive bug or getting caught up in those pesky Terrigen Mists. All of a sudden, they can stretch or fly or levitate things with their mind.

Eventually, it occurs to them that they need a superhero suit for one reason or another. Maybe it’s to conceal their identity. Maybe they need help containing or managing their powers.

But what if you were created from the very beginning to be a superhero? What if your powers were not exactly something to be negotiated, and more an intrinsic part of who you were from the start of your consciousness?

Turns out, you still apparently want a costume. At least, that’s what Vision wants. As a “synthezoid” created by robot baddie Ultron, Vision ultimately turned out to be a hero rather than a villain, thankfully.

Like many classic superpowered beings, Vision sports a big, billowing cape in green and gold. Sometimes, you might even catch him in one with a massive collar that would make Doctor Strange’s eyes water in fury. Oh, and that gem in his forehead? That’s not just for show. It’s a “solar jewel”, basically a high-powered solar cell that gives him power and allows him to shoot out optic blasts.
