After years of repping Gryffindor, Rupert Grint finds out he’s Hufflepuff. He is not pleased with results, and this level of self-hating is not a good look.
You might have noticed in the past few weeks we have seen a lot more of Rupert Grint. He’s currently promoting his new series on Crackle called Snatch. It’s loosely bases of the 2000 film of the same name. It’s during a recent interview that we find out his true feelings about being a Hufflepuff. During his interview with Vulture, he was asked about the infamous Pottermore YouTube video where he’s sorted into Hufflepuff. In the video, he was a lot kinder about the news, but after careful reflection has, it has had a change of heart.
"Yeah, and a little bit disappointed to be honest. That’s just not the coolest one, is it? Yeah, it is a really clever algorithm."
Why be disappointed? Hufflepuff is the most inclusive of all the houses. They value traits like dedication, kindness, and tolerance in its members. Not to mention it’s J.K Rowlings favorite House. Rupert Grint would be better off just to embrace his inner-Hufflepuff. The interviewer talked about how the sorting algorithm doesn’t allow for any cheating the system. Grint agreed because he tried.
"No, yeah. I think I did it a few times as well, and it was always Hufflepuff. You want to be like Gryffindor or Slytherin."
Rupert Grint might have spent most of his youth playing Gryffindor’s Ronald Weasley in the Harry Potter movies, but that’s where the similarities end. Maybe if he spent some time with other notable Hufflepuff’s like Eddie Redmayne, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Lin-Manuel Miranda he would discover what it means to be a Hufflepuff.
