Henry Cavill Set to Star in Mission Impossible 6 with Tom Cruise

Superman will be leaving Metropolis to traipse all over the globe with Tom Cruise as Henry Cavill joins the Mission: Impossible franchise.

The Mission Impossible franchise keeps going strong, thank goodness. In a franchise that only gets better with every entry, Tom Cruise has embraced his secret formula of death-defying stunts mixed with believable hand-to-hand combat sequences and Simon Pegg’s humor. The entire franchise serves us with easy to spot twists and turns, but the films haven’t become any less enjoyable. Especially since they comfortably rotate the cast of characters in each film.

I actually still miss Keri Russell, even though she was only in the prologue of Mission Impossible 3. Which came out a decade ago.

And it’s the likeability and memorability of these everyday spies that keeps me coming back for more. As announced today, the next addition to the franchise will be Henry Cavill.

Now, I know people take issue with Cavill’s portrayal of Superman in the DC Extended Universe. But the actor himself comes off as a really affable guy. Additionally, he pays a lot of attention to his fandom. If you scroll through his Instagram account, it’s full of gems between him interacting or trolling fans. Plus, his character in The Man From U.N.C.L.E was fairly enjoyable, even though the movie was only decent.

Plus, just imagine a beefy Henry playing Tom Cruise’s damsel in distress in Mission Impossible.

According to reports, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson and Simon Pegg will also return. Hopefully, Ferguson will be shooting several more knife fight scenes as Ilsa Faust. I mean, love Keri Russell, but Ferguson remains as one of the best women in the franchise. Paula Patton and Maggie Q make great seconds, though.

No release date has been set for the film yet, but Tom Cruise will be producing as per usual. I just can’t wait to see what IMF goes up against next now, or will they continue to track members of the Syndicate?
