Things are heating up both on set and behind the scenes for our perpetually clashing heroines on Feud: Bette and Joan.
We’ve been bearing delicious, salacious witness to the goings on both within the studio doors and outside on Feud: Bette and Joan. This week, it looks like we’re going to be focusing a bit more on the on-set squabbles of our ladies. There are, of course, infamous anecdotes of the women’s behavior on the set of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? that we have to draw from — like Joan putting rocks in her pockets to weigh her down during a scene where Bette had to drag her around. And some of that lore has made its way into the trailer for this week’s sure-to-be blowout of an episode (see: Bette kicking Joan in the head during a take). Watch the trailer below for a sneak peek of the high drama to come:
And, as we just started to delve into last week, it looks as though the off-set romances and on-set jealousy-inducing flirting between each woman and their shared director, Bob Aldrich, will also continue to raise tensions. FX’s official description of the upcoming episode is below:
"“As the production of Baby Jane reaches its climax, the feud becomes physical. Bette’s relationship with her daughter becomes strained when she bonds with a new cast member. Joan reveals an intimate detail about her past.”"
Based on the synopsis, it seems as though we’re also going to continue to get small glimpses into the personal heartbreaks of these women. As we saw last week, Bette’s relationship with her daughter is virtually nonexistent. It looks like we’re going to endure some more mother/daughter drama in episode 3. And as far as Joan goes, her lie about her man leaving her side has backfired. If the trailer is any indication, though, her love life won’t stay dormant for very long.
Next: The Peculiar Feminism of Feud
Whatever glamorous drama ensues this Sunday, we can be sure that with only 3 episodes under our belts, we’re just getting started.
