It’s been 8 long years of laughs, tears, and blood sucking on The CW’s The Vampire Diaries. So we picked 10 of our favorite characters we met along the way!

It’s been 8 long years of laughs, tears, deaths, and blood sucking on The CW’s hit teen series The Vampire Diaries. Some characters we’ve lost with tearful goodbyes – sometimes we even say goodbye to them twice, sometimes more (looking at you, Bonnie Bennett) – but we love them all the same, long after they’re gone. (They usually come back again, anyway.)

Here, we’ve ranked our favorites of the original The Vampire Diaries squad – our true Mystic Falls crew, vampires, humans, and werewolves alike, that have been with us since Day 1 and beyond. We’ve hated them, we’ve loved them, and without our knowledge, they became part of us. They each played a role in making this epic saga what it was – a television phenomenon, and the ultimate stories of love, loss, and all things supernatural.

(Side note: While I love the Original family with all my heart, if we’re getting technical, they have their own show these days and thus, were left off this list. A show, by the way, that is still running. Give it some love.)
