Penny Dreadful Returns As Graphic Novel Starring The Hound Of God
Fantastic news, Penny Dreadful fans! A new graphic novel is here to answer questions left open by the show’s untimely death.
Penny Dreadful executive producer Chris King is writing a new comic that picks up where the show ended. It’s illustrated by up-and-coming artist Jesús Hérvas.
Although Penny Dreadful officially wrapped up its main storyline on Showtime, it ended too soon to tie up all the loose ends. And as immortal characters, Ethan Chandler and Brona Croft have a lot left to tell us. As does Mr. Lyle, that crafty old so and so.
If you did not yet watch Penny Dreadful, spoiler alert! You may want to stop reading here until you’ve done so.
In the new Penny Dreadful comic, we catch up with Ethan Chandler, a.k.a., the Hound of God. He’s having serious issues, because his girlfriend, Vanessa Ives, sacrificed herself to save the world and stop her eternal suffering during the show’s finale. We have a sneak peek at a few pages via Entertainment Weekly :
That’s a really a lot to deal with, even for a holy werewolf, especially when your love was played by Eva Green.
Yeah, Ethan is totally not over it.
But apparently, Brona is not over Ethan. This could be awkward for a number of reasons. For one thing, Vanessa’s still visiting Ethan’s dreams.
Much to my delight, we will also rejoin the fabulous Mr. Lyle on his archeological expedition in Egypt, where it seems he’s found a most glorious artifact. And you know that if Mr. Lyle’s looking for it, it’s probably dangerously magical and will unlock a sensational narrative, and likely leave the fate of humanity hanging in the balance once again.
