Cosplayers Are Already Showing Off Breath Of The Wild, It’s Glorious
Cosplayers are already jumping at the gorgeous outfits in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, including Holly Wolf and her elegant Zelda cosplay.
Forget the open world, awesome puzzles, fun gameplay, and the ability to ride enormous, ridiculous elk around the grasslands of Hyrule: Zelda’s character is the best aspect of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. She is intelligent, curious, eager, silly at times, courageous at others, and exhibits a humanity we’ve never seen from any character before in a Legend of Zelda title. Plus, she’s got great fashion sense, which explains why cosplayer Holly Wolf has already jumped at the chance to cosplay as the adventurous princess.
Wolf uses Zelda’s adventuring outfit that she wears for the majority of the game’s scenes, and ventures out into a foggy forest and temple equipped with a wonderful recreation of a Sheikah Slate.
You can view the full album of photos from Paul Hillier on his website, which includes a short video where Wolf does a magnificent job of portraying both Zelda’s curiosity and her loneliness.
A second photoshoot from Chilltop Creative and Novii Photography offers a bit more of Zelda’s whimsical side, as well as a closer, more detailed look at her outfit.
I love the work Wolf put into this costume. When recreated in reality, the contrast between Zelda’s royal heritage and destiny (the blue tunic top with its three-quarter sleeves, the gold trim) against her desire to adventure (the gloves, pants, boots, and practical but free way she wears her hair) is put into the spotlight. We know from the game that Zelda uses the Sheikah Slate to take photos as she adventures, and you can just see through Wolf’s cosplay the whimsical Zelda stopping to take a photo of an interesting insect or strange ruin.
