Not even babies can resist the Hamilton soundtrack, now that it’s in lullaby form.
It’s been nearly two years since Hamilton made its Broadway debut, but the soundtrack is as hot as ever. In December, Lin-Manuel gave fans the Hamilton Mixtape, collaborating with various artists for new covers of the soundtrack hits. Now, there’s a whole new take on the music and it’ll put you straight to sleep. That’s the goal, anyway.
Rockabye Baby! has created a lullaby version of the musical’s opening number “Alexander Hamilton.”
Listen here:
Played mostly on a xylophone, with some background strings, the song is much more calming than its inspiration. The music would make for a surprisingly relaxing beach playlist as well. In addition to the music, the album cover draws inspiration from the costumes of the show. On top of a yellow background is a cuddly bear – Hamil-bear? – rocking a military vest and oversized, ruffled shirt.
With the internet full of videos of children waking up to their favorite chart-toppers, could this pave the way for videos of the opposite?
As it turns out, pop songs are great for lulling young children to sleep. The group behind the soothing rendition of the Broadway hit has also put out their own versions of Adele and Rihanna tracks. The group will release a full album called Lullaby Renditions of Songs from Hamilton, including seven more songs from the show.
The full track list includes:
- Alexander Hamilton
- My Shot
- The Schuyler Sisters
- You’ll Be Back
- Helpless
- Satisfied
- Wait for It
- Say No to This
In the show itself, Aaron Burr sings his own lullaby to his daughter, aptly named “Dear Theodosia.” Ironically, this song will not be part of the full track list.

Rockabye Baby! will release the rest of the album on March 31 but for now, we’re just going to have to wait for it. We’re willing to wait for it.
