Get Rid of Jesse Eisenberg
Honestly, this iteration of Lex Luthor isn’t even salvageable. You know it’s bad when I’m willing to try and work with Jared Leto’s Joker but not this guy.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s Lex Luthor was just so insanely bizarre. There may have been a kernel of a good idea in there (young tech genius Lex) but every other character choice made no sense. He acted more like a Joker or Riddler than Lex – goofy, energetic and dramatic, force-feeding people Jolly Ranchers and handing out jars of piss to intimidate enemies. It doesn’t make him a realistic foil to Superman: how could the Man of Steel get bested by a manic douchebag? He’s like a coked up Martin Shkreli.
The easiest way to deal with this is to forget Eisenberg and bring in the real Lex Luthor: his dad. In the film, references are made to Luthor Sr., who Lex inherited the company from. It’s implied that he died, but would anyone complain if we just left Eisenberg in that insane asylum forever and brought in a better Lex?
It could be scientist/inventor Lex, it could be ruthless business magnate Lex, it could be righteous and political Lex, it could even be President of the United States Lex. He could start the Injustice League!
Anything but whatever was going on in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, please.
