11. Jon Snow Gets Married, Part I

Even though Kit Harington is dating Rose Leslie (Ygritte) in real life, on the show, Game of Thrones fans are trying to pair his character off with a few different women.

In the first of these “who does Jon Snow marry” Game of Thrones theories, Jon Snow takes up with Daenerys Targaryen. It seems all but self-evident that the Khaleesi is coming for – and will probably claim – the Iron Throne. In order for Jon Snow to fulfill his destiny, then, he will have to marry his aunt.

First of all, ew.

Second of all, let’s remember that at that time in history (since it’s presumed to take place in the Middle Ages), kings and queens inter-married with their kin all the time. This was done to ensure the bloodline would remain “pure.”

Of course, when genetics became a thing, everyone realized that having children with your kin would lead to all sorts of problems down the line. (This could explain why Joffrey was so messed in the head.)

A small comfort: when Khal Drogo died, Daenerys announced that she would never bear children. So, if the marriage is strictly for business purposes…
