14. Tyrion…Targaryen?

Another one of the Game of Thrones theories that’s a little “out there” but entirely possible is the origin of Tyrion Lannister (played, expertly, by Peter Dinklage).

We’ll all recall that Tyrion was treated horrifically, not only by his father, but by his sister and brother (though, given the relationship between Jamie and Cersei, it was probably all for the better).

It was assumed, rightly or wrongly, that this was because Tyrion was responsible for Joanna’s death (as she died while giving birth to him).
But eagle-eyed Game of Thrones fans will notice that Joanna Lannister shared something in common with Lyanna Stark, who also died in childbirth after giving birth to a Targaryen child (Jon Snow).

This has led to the speculation that the real reason behind Jamie, Cersei, and Tywin treating Tyrion like he wasn’t a Lannister is because he wasn’t a Lannister, but a Targaryen.

It would also explain why Tyrion was so good with Daenerys’s dragons upon meeting them – dragons that are nothing if not nasty to others who are not, somehow, connected to the Khaleesi. Is Tyrion really from the House of Dragons?
