100 Years of Beauty? More Like 100 Years of Cookies

What better way to go through 100 years of cookies than with the premiere cookie expert: Cookie Monster? It’s right there in his name.

100 Years of Beauty, as a series, goes around the world and, in about a minute per episode, provides the fashion history over the past century for places like Taiwan, Israel and Palestine, or Haiti.

This is not a new episode of 100 Years of Beauty. This instead comes from Bon Appétit, and it is “100 Years of Cookies.” We don’t know about you, but that’s good enough for us, especially since cookie expert Cookie Monster was on the scene to help explain all the different cookies to the kids who were trying them.

From Mallomars to Nutter Butters (complete with a Nutter Butter Incident) to biscotti to the still-popular macarons, we recommend that you don’t watch this video while hungry. Of course, there was plenty of room for comedy as well. Perhaps Cookie Monster was not prepared for the soft interior of a Mallomar, considering his rather … exuberant cookie-eating style.

The kids also had some pretty solid questions. Why are animal crackers crackers and not cookies? They’re certainly sweet enough to qualify as the latter. Additionally, the observation that Mallomars are related to s’mores might not be as profound as Cookie Monster seemed to think, but it’s pretty close to being really deep.

Naturally, milk also made an appearance, as to have cookies without milk is a serious travesty.

And, of course, the kids did do their best imitations of their resident expert. They may not have sent their cookies flying, but practice makes perfect.

Things ended with a set of cookie cakes: one more like we would expect, including with Cookie Monster’s face on it, and one for Cookie Monster himself.

As expected, he demolished it, and threw the tray behind him when he had finished.
