In between all of the awards being handed out, the iHeartRadio awards ceremony included plenty of musical performances from Bruno Mars and more.
What’s a music awards show without performances of music? Even the Oscars incorporates music into its ceremonies, and that’s supposed to be all about film. With a name like The iHeartRadio Music Awards, music is pretty much expected. This year, there was a mix of established artists and some representatives from the younger set. (Justin Timberlake had a point when he said he was speaking to a lot of young people when he accepted the award for Song of the Year.)
Katy Perry helped kick things off with a hamster, a red pantsuit, and a new hairstyle during her performance of “Chained to the Rhythm.”
Big Sean was next on the docket with “Bounce Back” and “Moves” as well as an intro from “Voices in My Head.” The broadcast bleeped out some of the lyrics, but we all know that he took an L last night but came back.
Miley Cyrus came out to introduce her younger sister, Noah Cyrus. To support her sister, Miley came out with a fansign. Noah then performed “Make Me (Cry)” with Labrinth.
Yes, that’s a heart on her pants.
Ed Sheeran, fresh off the release of his latest album Divide, took the stage next with “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill,” naturally:
The Chainsmokers then got an introduction from Demi Lovato before breaking into “Paris,” with some help from Chris Martin going into “Something Just Like This.”
Next, the winner of the Best New Country Artist award, Thomas Rhett, performed “Star of the Show.”
Shawn Mendes then took the stage with “Mercy.”
Finally, to close out the show: Bruno Mars with “Treasure” and “That’s What I Like.”
Yeah, it ran a little late, but do you interrupt Bruno Mars? No, you don’t.
