I Love Lucy

I Love Lucy never got a proper goodbye. Almost the entire last season was a transition for the show to transform into the Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour. In this last season, the Ricardos, along with their best friends, the Mertzes, moved to Westport Connecticut, so Ricky could commute to the city to run his successful nightclub, The Babalu Club.

While this is a happy ending for Ricky, it doesn’t really offer much in the way of satisfaction for Lucy. Sure, she got the suburban dream of swimming pool and two-car garage, but she never realized her dream of performing. Ricky was mostly to blame for that, as he said no to every single request.

If you look a Lucy now, she’s a star in her own right. After one of the dancers turned her ankle, Lucy was asked to fill in unexpectedly. She was such a hit, audiences demanded to see her again and again. She quickly became a regular and fan-favorite, catching the attention of a variety show producer.

Lucy is the headlining star of her own show, one to rival the Ed Sullivan and Tonight Shows, and she is one of the biggest stars of her time. Ricky had to stay home to take care of the children and the home.
