The 30 Rock finale not only gave us a look into the near future, but also a look into the distant future. With cars zooming past his window, a bizarro Kenneth watches the goings on of Rockefeller Center in a magic snow globe. But before that, the show offered up tidy endings to both Jenna and Tracy. In fact, they both offered an emotional goodbye to the audiences.
On the other hand, the show firmly established Liz and Jack and “just friends.” Which, of course, is where it went all wrong. They wanted to be together all along, and now they live their lives blissfully aggravating each other in Jack’s penthouse.
Jack’s idea of a see-through dishwasher served up all his dreams to him, making him realize that Liz was always the one. Attaining the greatest goal of your life can really give a man some perspective. So this was Jack’s way of getting some clarity.
Liz is producing a show called Wide Villa. It’s about two smart, charming, unconventionally attractive women who are figuring out their way in the world. It’s exactly the kind of show she’s always wanted to run. And with Jack’s support, she’s now doing the kind of feminist work Princess Leia would approve of.
