Laverne and Shirley

The beloved Laverne and Shirley ended on a bit of messy note. In it’s eighth and final season, Cindy Williams, who played Shirley, became pregnant. After Williams presented the production company with a list of demands to accommodate her pregnancy, a court battle ensued. Williams was eventually released from her contract, but her character left abruptly in the second episode to join her Army medic husband over seas. The show ended with a “back-door” pilot for a show about auxiliary character, Carmine Ragusa moving to New York City. (The would-be spin-off never materialized, by the way.)

These days, Shirley and her husband lived all over the world until he retired from the Army and they returned to Milwaukee. Capitalizing on her love for arts and crafts, Shirley makes a killing on her Etsy shop, selling handmade, crocheted toaster covers.

Laverne inked a deal with soft-drink giant, Pepsi, and patented her favorite drink, milk and Pepsi. It was an instant hit, and she made a killing. It’s sold in every major outlet and is also available in vending machines nationwide. In a twist of fate, Carmine and Laverne fell in love over their shared New York background, and she used her Pepsi money to finance his early career in film. He’s a major motion picture star, mostly thanks to her support in the early days.
