Gilligan’s Island

Gilligan’s Island was robbed of an actual series finale. The last episode of the third season ended just like every one that came before it: with the castaways still stuck on an island after a three-hour tour. Creators didn’t realize they wouldn’t be returning for a fourth season, so the island inhabitants are stranded in perpetuity. Producers had to revisit the show in 1978 with a two-hour TV movie.

Given that we’re suspending the laws and time and space and disregarding that most of the actors have passed away in real life, we can look at where they would be once they were rescued.

Because of the length of their stay, the castaways incurred quite a bit of notoriety. Each of them parlayed their fame into lucrative careers. The Skipper was awarded a Congressional Medal of Valor for his heroic efforts to save the passengers. He went on to hold a seat in President’s Cabinet, advising on Maritime Safety. His “little buddy,” Gilligan, went on to assist him in his political endeavors and in turn, won an ambassadorship to the island nation on which they spent all those years.

The Professor trademarked his inventions and went on to make a mint in the “made for TV,” market. You can still see some of his inventions on late night television, to this day. Once they were off the island, the Professor and Maryanne followed through on all the sexual tension they fought during their stay. They are involved in a very romantic and passionate relationship.

Ginger, the actress, sold her the rights to her story to the highest bidder with the contingent she play herself in the movie. Her performance earned an Oscar and a Golden Globes nomination, and there is talk about translating it into a Broadway musical.

Thurston Howell and his lovey purchased the island and went on to develop it for tourism and vacationers. Their resort is one of the most prestigious in the world, serving only the richest and elite.
