Seth Meyers vs Stephen Colbert: The Theater Kids Win

facebooktwitterreddit

The battle between Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert raged on, it just happened that Colbert pulled out the Captain to win this weeks.

Every night there seems to be a battle of the segments between Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert. Whether or not these two men know it, they seem to be going back on forth covering the same information.

This one was a bit different. The two did cover the same story and if we compare those videos, Seth obviously wins. Colbert’s version was just him explaining what happened with the address to Congress and he looked at it quite quickly. Where Seth did an entire A Closer Look segment on the address and Trump sounding “presidential”.

See? Colbert’s was quicker and not nearly as in depth because he had another segment in mind. Seth did his usual and it was just what we’ve come to expect from Meyers.

And if that was it, Seth would have taken this one. But then Colbert used his guest to his advantage. Captain Jean-Luc Picard was on the show (Patrick Stewart for you non-Trekkies) and Colbert took the actor on a journey that made every theater nerd scream.

Stewart has been in Waiting For Godot on Broadway along side friend and X-Men costar Ian McKellan so Colbert did his own spin on the famed Beckett play.

So clearly Colbert took home this one for sheer creativity. And he even gave Trek fans a little nod at the end!

Continue to watch both The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as well as Late Night with Seth Meyers. They’re both doing an amazing job. But hopefully this means we’ll get more nerdy theater bits because that Waiting for Godot’s Obamacare Replacement was epic.
