They might solve a mystery, or rewrite history, and they’ll be doing it for at least two seasons. In a duck blur, DuckTales has already been renewed at DisneyXD.
It’s technically the Year of the Rooster, but at DisneyXD it looks to be the year of the duck. The network released a first look at the upcoming DuckTales reboot, giving a preview of the adventures to come. It seems the tales of daring, do bad, and good luck tales will only continue, as DisneyXD has also renewed the show for a second season, according to TVLine.
First announced in 2015, the series centers on Donald Duck’s mischievous nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie – the evil one officially being dubbed Louie – as they come to stay with their Uncle Scrooge McDuck at McDuck Manor. But things have changed with Scrooge, as the boys note, “You used to be a big deal, what happened to you?”
That seems to be the key question, as a discarded Duckburg Dailies headline reads “McDuck Hangs Up His Spats After…” with the final word being torn off. But, Uncle Scrooge might have some adventure left in those feathers, facing off with dragons, booby traps and uncharted territories.
The reboot boasts a star-studded voice cast, including David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck, with Danny Pudi, Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan as Huey, Dewey and Louie, respectively. The network announced the full cast in December 2016, releasing a video of the DuckTales theme song as sung by the actors.
In the closing moments of the video, DisneyXD highlights the family focus at the core of the show, with Dewey noting, “You guys, our family is awesome.” If the renewal is any indication, Dewey is absolutely right.
