Here are 13 Actors We’d Love to see Play Professor X in the X-Men

3. Jean Smart

Jean Smart, who already is playing the Charles Xavier like character of Melanie Bird on Legion would be a pretty great choice to Charles. First of all, she’s just a normal old white dude. And with the way things have been going in Hollywood for the last fifty years, that’s all they seem to like.

But if we gave the role to Jean, a role she is clearly qualified to play, it would change that up. And it isn’t like Jean wouldn’t be great in the role, we can see that she would be week after week on Legion. Melanie Bird is definitely different than Charles Xavier but they have the same basic principals.

They created safe places for mutants, Melanie just wants us them for the war a bit more. But either way, it shows us that Jean would make a great Charles if we gave her the chance. Everyone is so set on who they think should play their favorite characters that when an actor decides to leave, it is hard for us to grasp the idea of someone else portraying him.

So Jean Smart would be a great choice, and she could probably rock that bald look too.
