New Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer Introduces Star-Lord’s Father

The new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer is here, and it includes Kurt Russell, who plays the pivotal role of Peter Quill’s father.
The new Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer arrived last night, as promised, in the middle of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, continuing the tradition of propping up the third place also ran in the late night network derby with exclusive content from Disney’s two most successful movie universe franchises.
The trailers for Guardians have been some of the funniest stuff to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent years. This only fuels more anticipation for the sequel to the surprise smash hit of misfit heroes in a Galaxy that’s more far out than far away.
Check it out (and hum along)!
I continue to be highly impressed with the use of classic rock. Of all the songs I would not have expected, Fleetwood mac’s dramatic break up song “The Chain” would not have been anywhere on my list, but the editing of it for this clip is damn near genius.
Along with the new trailer, James Gunn, the director, tweeted out a brand new poster.
And it looks like just about the full cast is returning for our second go round:
"The entire gang is back for this run: Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), and Baby Groot (Vin Diesel), along with new members of the team Yondu (Michael Rooker), Nebula (Karen Gillan), and Mantis (Pom Klementieff). Also returning is director James Gunn, who made the original film."
Note that Nebula seems to have been absorbing into the gang instead of an adversary. With Thanos being touted as the main lead for Avengers: Infinity War, one wonders how Nebula’s switching sides will affect things…
