Amy Schumer Has A New Netflix Comedy Special, ‘The Leather Special’

Amy Schumer is loud, rude, crude, and funny as hell. She’s the BFF we all have in our head — the one who’s unafraid to call us out while owning her own.

In other words, Amy Schumer is all of our spirit animals.

Now, she has a new comedy special for Netflix called “The Leather Special.”

Check out the trailer:

As she reveals in her trailer, over the past year, she’s gotten rich, famous, and humble. But despite her rousing — and, admittedly, surprising — success, Amy Schumer isn’t afraid to either take herself to task, or to take other people, places, and things to task as well.

There’s nothing you can say to insult Amy Schumer that she doesn’t already say about herself, and regardless of what you think about her, this tactic — sometimes called the Jack Rabbit tactic, after Eminem’s character in 8 Mile — makes her a powerful ally for women, and a scary foe of the alt-right and other oppressors.

From the press release:

"“The comedy special debuts globally on Netflix next Tuesday, March 7, featuring the Emmy® and Peabody Award-winning comedian take on binge drinking, her relationship with her boyfriend and navigating the unknown terrain of being a newly famous woman who looks like someone you grew up with. “Amy Schumer: The Leather Special” was shot in front of a packed house at Denver’s Bellco Theater. Schumer also directed.”"

This is just the latest in the long line of comedy specials that Netflix is rolling out. According to Fox News, this is a trend for the digital streaming service: in addition to Schumer’s comedy special, we can expect to see comedy specials from the likes of Louis C.K. (who inked a deal for 2 specials), Chris Rock (who also signed a deal for two specials, at a cost of $20 per special), and Jerry Seinfeld.
