14. India Stoker (Stoker)

Truth be told, almost everyone in Stoker is a villain. Certainly, all of the main players are deeply flawed and unafraid to commit even the most bone-chilling acts. So, when a film centers around an entire family of evil people, it’s hard to pick just one. Yet, the transformation of young India Stoker over the course of Park Chan-wook’s 2013 movie is enough to earn her a spot on this list.

Things start to go wrong on India’s 18th birthday. On that day, her father, Richard, dies in an apparent car accident. Her home life is already unstable thanks to her mother, Evelyn. It gets even more shaky when Charlie, India’s enigmatic uncle and the late Richard’s brother, arrives. He introduces himself at Richard’s funeral and announces that he will be staying with them indefinitely, ostensibly to support the grieving mother and daughter.

Eventually, it’s reveal that Charlie is a murderer who delights in picking off people around town. What’s more interesting, however, is India’s reaction to her killer uncle. Instead of being repulsed (or, you know, calling the police), she finds herself attracted to the concept of killing.

Throughout the film, India’s rising aggression and violent tendencies build until she’s guilty of homicide herself. Even when Charlie reveals that she’s killed her father, she is initially unmoved. Ultimately, however, India comes out on top in bloodthirsty form.
