HOLLYWOOD, CA – FEBRUARY 26: Actors Michelle Williams (L) and Busy Philipps attend the 89th Annual Academy Awards at Hollywood

The Oscars 2017 Red Carpet is one of the highest pressure events any star can face. Who collapsed under pressure, or was badly advised?

Making it on the Oscars Red Carpet is not easy. The right dress for one actress might fall completely flat on another. If you, or your publicist, or your designer doesn’t capture in your look the ideal of what the public thinks your persona is, and capture it just right, even the most timeless looks can bomb, and bomb hard.

This year’s crop of actresses who might have bombed was short one major name, as Natalie Portman decided at the last minute that the odds were long enough that she could risk staying home, and not have to navigate what is already a high-stress situation while heavily pregnant. Some of our ladies on this list might have wished they had a similar excuse.

So who failed to bring their A Game, or worse, were advised to wear exactly the wrong thing and looked uncomfortably miserable all night long? Who showed up wearing the 2017 version of the infamous Bjork Swan gown and laid a goose egg? We count down the Top Ten Worst Red Carpet Moments from the 89th Annual Academy Awards.
