George W. Bush Doesn’t Agree With Donald Trump’s Treatment of the Press

Former President George W. Bush is speaking out for the first time since Donald Trump’s inauguration and he has a lot to say about the press, the immigration ban, and what he’s up to now.

President George W. Bush was criticized harshly as President and knows what it feels like to have the media watching your every move. But despite that, he told The Today Show that he still believes in the importance of a free and independent press. Here’s what he said:

"“Power can be very addictive and it can be corrosive, and it’s important for the media to call to account people who abuse their power.”"

We’re all pretty aware of how addictive power can be because it seems like Trump and his advisers are drunk on their power daily. And how crazy is it that we’d all probably vote George W. Bush back into office right now if we could? He actually sounds like a smart human being who has our best interests in mind, unlike our current president. He went on to say that he had spent time trying to convince Vladimir Putin and the Russians of the importance of a free press. Eeeek!

George even agrees with us that the hacking and interference from Russia needs to be investigated even. Man, I guess we’re #TeamW now?! When asked about the controversial immigration and travel ban that Trump put into place Bush was much more diplomatic:

"“I am for an immigration policy that is welcoming and upholds the law.”"

Hey, even that sounds like a huge improvement right now. Welcoming AND legal?! Crazy.

See? President Bush even has an upcoming book with proceeds benefiting veterans, because he’s a nice guy like that.

It’s crazy that the Bush family has now become so adorable to us all. I guess we took for granted all of the men who actually took the office of the President seriously. Wish we could re-think that one!
