The First Orphan Black Season 5 Trailer is Here: “The Final Trip”

While it’s more of a tease than anything else, BBC dropped its first trailer for Orphan Black season 5 that features an ominous voiceover by Sarah Manning.

Orphan Black returns to BBC this summer. In addition to being its fifth season, this is also its last. Which means, Orphan Black will have to bring all of its major storylines to a close. From the very beginning, we’ve been on an epic ride.

First, it began with Beth Childs’ suicide that led Sarah Manning to realize she was one of many clones created under Project LEDA. Afterward, she embarked on a terrifying journey of discovery. Basically, a bunch of scientists became way too arrogant and did things with DNA that they shouldn’t have done.

On June 10, when the final season premieres, the Clone Club’s story finally comes to a close. Check out the first teaser below featuring the iconic opening theme song by Two Fingers.

Like the memorable opening sequence, this teaser says more than it may seem like at first glance. We start with two parallel tracks that turn into one. Of course, it would be a metaphor for Beth and Sarah’s lives that converged the moment Beth stepped in front of a train. Then, the tracks become a strand of DNA — the driving engine and subplot of the entire show. Throughout most of the series, we see different factions competing to unlock the secrets of their genetic make-up.

The question as it relates to Sarah was always how she remained fertile while no other clone could conceive. As the central character of the series, the question has always been, “Why Sarah?” Obviously, there’s Helena, too. But I feel like she’s been pregnant for almost two years now. (It hasn’t been that long, it just feels like it.)

Each season has given us more and more questions. Hopefully, the final season will answer them all. More importantly, I hope season 5 gives each clone a happy ending when Orphan Black premieres on June 10.
