Oscars 2017: Emma Stone Wins Best Actress

Hollywood’s biggest night — the Oscars 2017 — are finally here, and we’ll be live-blogging to see which nominee wins Best Actress!

There are five amazing actresses up for the award for Best Actress. Some, obviously, are more favored to win than others. We list the actresses who are nominated below and put them in the order in which they are, in our opinion, most likely to win.

So here are the nominees, with the winner revealed at the bottom:

Meryl Streep: The legendary actress that our current “Commander in Chief” called “over-rated” is having a banner year, and for all the right reasons. Nothing would give an aneurysm to the President faster than an Oscars 2017 win for Meryl for her role in Florence Foster Jenkins, and for that reason alone, we believe that she would — or should — get it. After all, it’s Meryl Streep!

Isabelle Huppert: At this year’s Academy Awards, Isabelle Huppert is nominated for her role in Elle. Last night, she took home the Independent Spirit Award for the same role. This is her first Academy Award nomination.

Ruth Negga: For the Oscars 2017, Irish-Ethiopian actress Ruth Negga is nominated for her role in Loving. This year, she also won the Oscar Wilde Award — sometimes called “The Irish Oscars” — for the same role. This is her first Oscar nomination.

Natalie Portman: From child actress to Padme Amidala to Jackie Kennedy, Natalie Portman — who is skipping this year’s ceremony due to her pregnancy — has been a pop culture phenomenon for a long time. For the Oscars 2017, she’s up for her role in Jackie. Natalie previously won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Black Swan, and was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Closer.

Emma Stone: For the Oscars 2017, Emma Stone is nominated for her role in La La Land. This is her second Oscar nomination — she was previously nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Birdman.
