New Doctor Who Season 10 Trailer Introduces Us To Bill

The latest trailer for Doctor Who season 10 introduces us to his newest companion to join the TARDIS team, Bill, played by Pearl Mackie.

The Christmas special last December gave us our first insights to how things are going with the Doctor after having been away from our screens for a year. Since we last saw him, Clara has flown off in her own TARDIS, taking his memories of her with him.  River has had her last Christmas with the Doctor ever. And Nardole has apparently moved in, and is the Doctor’s currently traveling partner.

But, as we were promised from last summer, there will be a new, more traditional style companion as well. So far, the only things we know about her is she’s played by Pearl Mackie, her name is Bill, and when she meets the Doctor, she’s a student who works in a chippery to make ends meet.

But now, thanks to BBC America, we have a new trailer , which gives us more insight to the question “Who Is Bill?”

First things first: Bill has a last name. Bill Potts! As for her opinion on the Doctor?

"“The first time you meet him, he’s funny. The second time, he’s amazing. The third time, you realize he’s the most dangerous man in the universe.”"

That’s sounds about right.

But! Note the line at the end about how she’ll follow him anywhere, even if it kills her. Though we do not have it confirmed that Bill will survive this season, we do know that this is Steve Moffat’s last go at Doctor Who, and that the BBC is leaning towards clearing the decks for the new showrunner when he comes aboard (much like they did at the end of Davies’ run with the Tenth Doctor). This is Capaldi’s last season, which means, at the end of it, he will die and regenerate. Will Bill also not survive the changing of the guard?
