Last Caturday, we celebrated World Cat Day, which served as a timely reminder that cats are weird. And apparently, no one knows that better than Simon’s Cat.
My weekends hinge on routine. On Saturday and Sunday, I wake up at 7 a.m., open the blinds for my cat so she can watch the lizards scurry across the window, fill her bowl with fresh water, then I return to bed and wait for noon, which is the most appropriate time to get out of bed on the weekend. Of course, there are mornings where Rey decides she rather jump on my face and scurry around under the sheets and nip at my legs, but those are only certain Saturdays.
Obviously, cats make great pets because they’re low-maintenance and not that needy. In fact, I’m learning that I need Rey more than she needs me. She can open doors on her own now (she flings herself full-speed to the top of the door, then slides down and catches the handle) and she’s really close to turning on the faucet by herself. So by the time she learns to pop open a can, she’ll be a perfectly independent cat. Or, and this seems just as likely, she’ll learn to use Amazon and get herself one of these bad boys. She’d probably buy the most expensive one because I sense an undercurrent of pettiness in her.
However, it seems like Simon’s Cat and Simon experience weekends almost entirely the same way. While we all wake up at the same time (almost 7 a.m. is the universal cat wake up time, huh?), it looks like the routines are more or less the same. Honestly, I wrote my part before I watched the video, then as I sat down to watch, I spend 17 minutes going, “Me. Me. Oh, my gosh, me. MEEEEE. That’s so me.”
So watch below and find out if you experience the same thing as me and Simon on a daily basis:

Actually, to my kitty’s credit, she doesn’t do anything weird in the bathroom. Yet.
