We review Project Runway Junior Season 2 winner Chelsea’s collection, which she presented at the finale at FIDM for the judges.
Chelsea was one of my favorites throughout the entire show. I pegged her from the first episode I saw to go all the way to the end, and by god she did it.
Unfortunately, Chelsea, being young, was one of those who benefitted from the whole “weekly themes.” They helped give her something both the focus on and to work against in her designs. But when it came to making her finale collection, the lack of guidelines seemed to do her in somewhat. Her idea was solid, a robot who becomes a real girl, but if you hadn’t told me that’s what was going on I never would have noticed. I would have thought they were six weird outfits.
If anything, once Tim decided he didn’t like her clothes, it finally gave her something to focus, and once again to work against. Not that it improved the cohesion of the collection, but she definitely aimed to make all six of them the best wacko outfits that didn’t make any sense they could be. And the judges loved it.
Let’s check out her six pieces that won her the day.
