1983: Meryl Streep

Legendary actress Meryl Streep took home her first win in 1983 for Sophie’s Choice, beating out Julie Andrews, Jessica Lange, Sissy Spacek and Debra Winger for the win.

1984: Shirley MacLaine

MacLaine won in 1984 for her role in classic Terms of Endearment, winning out against Jane Alexander, Meryl Streep, Julie Walters and Debra Winger.

1985: Sally Field
