Tina Belcher – Bob’s Burgers

Teenage ennui looks really good on Tina Belcher. Not since Angela Chase have we had such a lovely example of female brooding mixed with adorable awkwardness and ecclectic desires. Tina is the poster lady for owning your own weirdness and letting your freak flag fly.

Tina epitomizes the moment in a young girl’s life in which she is transitioning from a kid to a woman, and Tina does it with flair. I wish I could have handled my adolescence with such dedication to my own interests. Tina likes zombies, butts, rainbows, horses, and erotic fiction. She has a healthy sex drive and isn’t intimidated by her own appetites. Most women could learn a thing or two from this teenager.

Even though it sounds likes she’s graceful and self-possessed, she has little to no social skills, and it’s her acknowledgement of this particularly that makes her so endearing. Although Tina doesn’t show her emotions in a conventional way, she has enough confidence to carry her through all the inevitable uneasy situations she finds herself in. Whether she’s groaning uncomfortably or hiding under a table, she still thinks she’s the coolest girl in the room, and I tend to agree whole heartedly.
