Girls rule the world. If you don’t believe me, just turn on your television. Here’s a list of the absolute most badass women on television.

We’ll take any opportunity to celebrate the ferocity of women, and TV is a good place to start. There are so many badass women on television now and in the past, it’s hard to narrow it down to just 50. I could have listed hundreds more and still not have a comprehensive list.

Some of these women made the list for pioneering new ways for women to show their worth, while others are just cool chicks. Some can drink us under the table, and some could offer a shoulder to cry on. There are some women with actual super powers, while others have to power to love and encourage. Both of these equally valuable, and it’s time we acknowledge all the ways women can be awesome.

Being a badass doesn’t always mean you have to be tough or shrewd. It can also mean you’re emotionally available, a sweet friend, a good mother, or a successful professional. That’s what it means to be a woman, and it doesn’t have anything to do with anatomy or biology.

As you can see from all the women on this list, being a badass can, and should, mean anything you want it to.
