Where in the World is Connor Walsh?
At 8:22 p.m. on the night of the fire, Wes and Nate have their conversation, and we see someone else moving through the house. After Nate leaves, Wes calls Annalise, but then the mysterious someone drags him off.
Oliver and Michaela arrive at the police station, looking for Connor, who has been missing since last night. Asher tries to get into Denver’s office, and sneaks his way in…only to have security escort him out. Bonnie then confronts Denver in the men’s room, but he deflects. She reports to Annalise, who has gone to New York with Nate.
Laurel and Oliver are fighting again, but Bonnie yells at them to be quiet, because Annalise is meeting with Sylvia Mahoney in New York and they need to know that.
We cut back to that meeting. The two of them trade barbs back and forth, even dismissing the waitress to continue sniping at each other. Finally, Annalise tells Sylvia to shut up, that she wasn’t behind Wallace Mahoney’s death.
Frank places a call to the D.A., trying to take the deal and failing. He, too, mentions Connor.
Found Him!
It turns out that yes, Denver does have Connor locked up somewhere. The D.A. drops an offer of blanket immunity, then walks out.
Sylvia and Annalise start talking about Wes, and then it comes out that Wes is actually the son of Charles Mahoney — not Wallace as everyone else believed.
We get a flashback of 10 whole years, and we see Rose and Christophe/Wes meeting with Charles and Sylvia Mahoney. Charles looks back, and it looks like Sylvia puts two and two together in that flashback.
In the present, Sylvia continues to rationalize what happened, and Annalise again brings up her dead son.
"Sylvia: “You are wrong about so much.”"
She walks away.
Annalise gives a debrief to everyone. Oliver then proposes that they blackmail Denver. Even though she says they’re doing everything they can, he admits he doesn’t believe them. Through all of this, Asher munches on things, like the terrible dude he is.
Denver meets with the same Mysterious Man we saw at Annalise’s house the night of the fire. He then presents Wes’ phone to Connor, tells him to sign the deal or face arrest, and walks out.
That night, Annalise asks Bonnie if she should believe Sylvia or not when it comes to the claim that the Mahoneys didn’t do anything this time. Then, Annalise says she’s going to an AA meeting, but she ends up going to her burned-out house instead.
Meanwhile, Laurel sees an article about Charles Mahoney. Oliver calls to ask about Connor’s missing persons report. Connor himself, keeps blowing at the pages of his immunity deal.
Feelings are Hard
Asher says he has to tell Michaela something: he loves her. For a confession from him, it’s awfully sweet and heartfelt, and then she says Laurel called her. We all heard no such thing, but Laurel and Michaela start discussing how to respond to “I love you.” It all comes down to just knowing when you know, says Laurel.
In the house, Annalise finds a shoebox containing a photo of her and Sam with their stillborn son. She holds it, crying as she does.
Nate talks to the lady detective and asks if Denver is blackmailing her. Speak of him and he appears, though. Nate unwisely says that he has a file of info and then gets fired.
Connor gets arrested, but he says he has something to put Annalise away. The cops search Oliver’s apartment, find the phone data, and Bonnie tells Annalise about it. We see the rest of Wes’ call to Annalise on the night of the fire — including Wes confessing that he killed Sam. She deletes that voicemail in the flashback.
Annalise says there’s a way to fix all of this: give another suspect for all of those murders to Denver. The plan is to sell Wes out, although Laurel, naturally, protests. Annalise admits that the plan is “horrible,” but it’s better than going to jail, and that Wes would want them to do it this way.
Laurel walks out dramatically after saying that no, Annalise knows nothing.
We Find Out What Happened
The next day, Asher does some sit-ups on the floor, saying that maybe Michaela will love him if he has abs. She admits that she doesn’t know how she feels. Then, a knock comes at the door, and Laurel arrives demanding a favor. She wants to oppose Annalise’s plan, but won’t say what it is until they agree.
Annalise meets with Denver himself, saying that she’ll tell him what’s on her phone. We see the Wes call one last time, and then the scene continues. Mysterious Man drugs Wes, though Wes manages to crack a bottle over his head and get away. Annalise in the present says that Wes confessed to both Sam and Rebecca’s murders on the voicemail, and throws him completely under the bus, down to saying that he killed himself.
Mysterious Man in the flashback shoves a gag in Wes’ mouth and holds it in, choking him to death.
"Denver: “A suicide by fire?” Annalise: “It’s your job to sell that.”"
Annalise then adds that she’ll let him win with this story. If he doesn’t use it, she will go after him, and she will destroy him. She then returns to Bonnie’s house with Connor, so it looks like it worked.
Then we see Michaela, Laurel, and Wes at a bar with Charles Mahoney. Michaela plays the role of bait, telling him to buy her a drink.
Annalise then attends another AA meeting. She starts telling the story of Wes, without names, saying she “couldn’t leave him alone,” and talking about how she worried about him.
Meanwhile, Denver starts selling the story to the judge using the voicemail evidence, saying he no longer wants to prosecute Annalise based on the evidence that was “found by Nate.”

BENITO MARTINEZ, BILLY BROWN
Oliver proposes marriage even as he and Connor strip down. Connor looks suitably shocked.
At the bar, Asher tries to talk Laurel down while Michaela heads towards the bathroom. In the bathroom, Michaela says that Charles has invited her back and that she loves Asher, too. Asher’s pleased by the development. Laurel pulls out a gun and goes after Charles, even as Annalise keeps talking about Wes.
Annalise later makes it back to Bonnie’s. Frank is there. He kneels before her, saying he’ll hunt people down if she needs him to.
Then Mysterious Man stops Laurel before she can shoot Charles. His name is Dominic — and he was on the phone with Laurel’s dad that night. Surprise! The Mahoneys weren’t behind Wes’ death after all.
During her AA monologue, Annalise breaks down and says Wes felt like her son and that he was her son.
If that’s true…then that makes things way, way more complicated. But hey, at least Laurel didn’t kill anybody!
