The Best Picture Oscar is traditionally the last one given out. Here’s a list of each and every film to take home this prestigious award.

It’s that time of year. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will soon hand out a rather large number of golden statuettes to mark the best of film from last year. However, this isn’t the first time, and it likely won’t be the last. No, Academy Awards — or, as the statuettes are better known, the Oscars — have been awarded since 1929.

Naturally, there has always been a Best Picture winner of sorts, ever since that first year. We’ve compiled each and every movie that’s won this award below, according to this list from Today, sorted not by the year in which they won but rather the year in which they were released. Additionally, with the assistance of IMDb, we’ve added in the other Oscars that a film won as well.

Considering this rather late date, you probably can’t watch all of the Oscar winners before the ceremony kicks off. That’s why we’ve made a few key picks from each decade, to help your pre-Oscar binge be just a little more manageable.

Of course, you could go watch the current nominees, but why do that when you could soak yourself in decades upon decades of classic film?

Ready? Let’s get started with the very first winner and go from there.
