Animated works deserve love, too, and this year has a number of animated hits on the table. Zootopia stole our hearts earlier in the year, with it’s less than subtle lessons about stereotyping, class and racial divisions and even gender roles. Moana brought audiences Disney’s first Polynesian princess and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s lively music. Kubo and The Two Strings gave us the tale of a brave, adventurous young boy, and every feature and short on the animated list stood out in its own right.

Last year’s winners were Inside Out for Animated Feature, and Bear Story for Animated Short.
