Best Picture: Moonlight

Moonlight is the story of a man’s life told through three, significant chapters of his life, and the love, sexuality and struggles he faces through the years. Written and directed by Barry Jenkins, and starring Mahershala Ali, Shariff Earp and Duan Sanderson, the film has earned rave reviews, a score of 98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and a jaw-dropping 25 major awards already, including the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture (Drama), the Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Acting Ensemble and Best Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali), and the Screen Actors Guild Award Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role (Mahershala Ali).

On top of its Best Picture nomination, Moonlight is looking to take home seven other awards from the Oscars, as well – Supporting Actor (Mahershala Ali), Supporting Actress (Naomie Harris), Cinematography, Best Director, Film Editing, Original Score, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
