Drew Brees

Drew Brees played college football at Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Industrial Management. The San Diego Chargers drafted him after graduation. He is currently quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. Brees is a popular player and human being whose interest in education and public works make him a great candidate for any office.

Brees and his family founded the Brees Dream Foundation in 2003. It raises money to support cancer patients and their families. Sports Illustrated named him Sportsman of the Year in 2010, chiefly for his commitment to Hurricane Katrina recovery in his adopted city of New Orleans. He’s a common presence in local schools, where he lifts the spirits of Nola’s kids and encourages them to look to the future.

He’s also involved in the USO, and was the co-chair of the the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition under Barack Obama. Brees even recorded the It Gets Better video above, speaking out against bullying and showing support for kids who are victims. He says it’s wrong to be a bully and it has to stop. That’s a message we really need to hear right now.

Lately, there’s been talk of his retirement, although there’s no doubt he will finish out his current contract. Is he thinking of running for office after that? “It won’t be the first thing I do, but I’m not gonna rule it out,” Brees told TMZ on January 31.

We need you in 2020, Drew! Start planning now!
