Laila Ali

It probably goes without saying that Laila Ali is the daughter of Muhammad Ali. She’s also a force of her own, and I really want her to run for office.

Starting out, Ali went to Santa Monica College and got a degree in business management. Like her beloved father, Ali was a professional boxer. She fought from 1999 to 2007, during which she won 24 bouts and lost none.

Laila Ali has moved on from boxing to being her own empire. According to her website, she is a wellness and fitness expert, broadcaster, semi-professional cook, actress, children’s advocate, author and speaker. Ali was formerly president of the non-profit Women’s Sports Foundation, whose mission is achieving equality for women who are professional athletes. She’s also a CEO, with both beauty and lifestyle businesses.

Ali is currently an analyst for CBS Sports Network’s “We Need to Talk,” a sports commentary program hosted totally by women. She previously hosted ABC’s short-lived Everyday Health, interviewing people who overcame illness and who now help others do the same. As far as cooking (closest to my heart), she competed on Chopped and cooked on Not My Momma’s Meals, The Chew, and Fresh Food Fast With Emeril. On the diplomatic front, she’s been on quite a number of reality shows, keeping her dignity at every turn. She can get along with anyone. Laila Ali is truly a nice person.

Recently, Ms. Ali released the awesome video above, about being a mentor. That’s the icing on the cake of awesome that is Laila Ali.

If she were president, it’d be almost like having Michelle Obama in the White House, with all that health, wellness, fitness, cooking, mentoring and coolness. Ms. Ali is smart, funny, and overflowing with energy in good will. Who wouldn’t be proud to vote for her?
