Michelle Kwan

Athlete Michelle Kwan is a figure skater who won medals at the 1998 and 2002 Olympics. She also placed in many other U.S. and world competitions. Kwan never officially retired from skating.

Her career in politics started with a Bachelor’s in international studies and a minor in political science from the University of Denver Josef Korbel School of International Studies. While there, she also earned a minor in political science. Kwan went on to complete her Masters international relations at the Tufts University Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. In addition, Southern Vermont College granted her an honorary doctorate in 2010.

Condoleezza Rice made Kwan a State Department public diplomacy ambassador under President Bush. Her tenure extended into the Obama administration for both Clinton and Kerry. (The web page for this program appears to be scrubbed, because it’s the State Department and this is the Trump administration.) Then, Kwan went on to be a senior advisor for the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs for Secretary of State Clinton.

Most recently, she was active in Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. Kwan phone banked with all the other volunteers in crowded strip mall offices, surprising excited voters on the phone and cheered on fellow volunteers. In addition, she was the Surrogate Outreach Coordinator, bringing other celebs into Clinton’s campaign.

The only logical next step is to run for office, Michelle! You’re the perfect candidate for any seat you choose.
