Book

Any book, seriously. Why have we never had a book? Why has there never been any representation of literature and its goodness in Monopoly? If there had been a book in Monopoly when I was a kid, I would have picked it every time whether it was a romance novel or the Bible. But, uh, we shouldn’t use either of those for the book in the game of Monopoly.

I know competition for What Book Goes In Monopoly would be fierce, and it’s easy to want to reward that title to some great work of fiction like Ulysses, Moby Dick, King Arthur, The Odyssey, or some excellent modern title. But here’s my proposition: Green Eggs and Ham. Let’s put Green Eggs and Ham into Monopoly. Everyone likes Green Eggs and Ham, even the guy in the book who claims he doesn’t up until the very end when he tries them. It’s a classic, it’s hardly controversial, and even kids know what it is. Bonus: make the piece green in special Monopoly sets.
