Remote Control

It’s 2017. Everyone has a remote control, likely five or six or more. Several of those remote controls don’t work. At least one is lost in the couch cushions. Remote controls went from being something our parents complained about us using instead of getting up and hitting buttons like they used to, to an item that can connect with every electronic device we own. There are remote controlled coffee makers, air conditioners, alarm systems, toys, lighting systems, and of course, televisions.

This representation of total control over all technological aspects of our lives is perfect for Monopoly, a game about maintaining absolute control over everyone else’s finances. The remote control piece for Monopoly should be riddled with buttons that have no explanations for what they do or reasons for being there…even if that’s a bit hard to portray on a tiny game piece.
