The future of humanity is in peril and it’s up to Emma Watson to save the world. A powerful internet corporation in the new sci-fi thriller,The Circle, is threatening the privacy and freedom of all it’s users. Watson plays “Mae” who is recently hired by the tech giant and is quickly promoted.

For Mae, the career opportunity is life-changing and she agrees to participate in a experiment headed by the company’s founder, Eamon Bailey (Tom Hanks). But her participation in the experiment will push the boundaries of privacy, ethics, and her personal freedom. Every decision Mae makes is recorded and begins to affect her relationship with family and friends.

A year ago, EuropaCorp acquired U.S. distribution rights to the modern thriller which was written and directed by James Ponsoldt and is based on Dave Eggers’ 2013 novel.

When I saw the first trailer I was captivated and incredibly excited for it’s release. Hermione was one of my favorite Harry Potter characters because of her intelligence and activism. And I adore Emma Watson for the same qualities. Since wrapping of the Harry Potter series, Emma has graduated from college. She has also dedicated much of her time fighting for women’s rights and education.

Now she has two hugely anticipated movies set to release within a month of each other. Emma will also be playing book-loving Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast which releases March 17.

About four weeks ago, the filmmakers had to do reshoots. But STX/EuropaCorp is still expecting an April 28, 2017 release date. John Boyega, Bill Paxton, Karen Gillan and Patton Oswalt will round out the cast.
