Report: Kerry Washington Starring in Deadpool Sequel with Ryan Reynolds

Olivia Pope herself seems to be taking on Wade Wilson as it is rumored that Kerry Washington will star in the Deadpool sequel.

The role of Domino (Neena Thurman) is an assassin in the Deadpool universe. Recently a casting call for the role went out for the sequel to the 2016 movie starring Ryan Reynolds. That Hashtag Show did an episode explaining the news with some really strange news about who was up for the casting.

That Hashtag Show reported that initially, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Sienna Miller have already turned down the role. But now, it seems, that Scandal star Kerry Washington is who the studios have set their sights on.

While this casting is amazing, it is a bit of an odd choice. Kerry has shown her superhero capabilities before. Well, sort of. She portrayed Alicia Masters in the original Fantastic Four movie series.

The news comes with a pretty detailed description of what they want the character to be like, too. Basically, they just want the audience to believe that this woman could be ruthless. So it is pretty easy to see why Kerry is their first choice. With a character like Olivia Pope, you know she would do whatever she needs to do to reach her end goal.

It’ll be interesting though to see her pair off with Ryan Reynolds in something like this. He is cast so perfectly (mainly because he’s the only reason Deadpool even happened) but still, it is going to be an interesting matching.
